Sixth Grade

THE DOUBLE PEAK EXPERIENCE –  After learning about the Woodwind and  Brass families last year, the 6th graders will start out the year continuing their music theory education, listening skills, rhythmic knowledge and singing skills.  All this education while Mr. McGhee helps students decide what instrument they want to pursue in earnest in beginning band.

This year we are going to open the world of music to your student through instrumental education. We encourage you to decide with your student what instrument they want to pursue and then rent an instrument so they may practice at home. (Please see how to obtain an instrument on this website.) Or if you decide not to go this direction, your student will of course be provided with an instrument, (Clarinet or trumpet) as well as, sheet music during the class period. PERFORMANCES – There will be periodic performances throughout the year. The first concert is in the fall at the TURKEY Concert on November . Then the parent Coffee Concert at school on March and finally their Spring Concert will be June at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.
